Wetherby Whaler presents the winner of its card competition with framed copy
Tuesday 14th March, 2017
Wetherby Whaler has rewarded the artistic talents of one of its young customers after they won a design competition.
Alfie Batt, 10, was the lucky winner of the Wetherby Whaler’s birthday card design competition, which he designed whilst enjoying a meal at its flagship Guiseley restaurant.
Alfie’s design was hand selected by the owners of Wetherby Whaler, Phillip and Janine Murphy, from more than 500 entries. He was presented with a framed copy of the design by Restaurant Manager Ryan Dean and his competition prize. Cards with Alfie’s winning design will be sent to the young members of the Wetherby Whaler Kids Club on their birthdays. In addition to the annual birthday card, members of the Wetherby Whaler’s Kids Club, which is for young customers aged between three and 11, also receive a free meal to celebrate. It also has a loyalty scheme that offers another free meal after five visits to any of the Whalers’ five restaurants.
Ryan Dean, Restaurant Manager at Wetherby Whaler, said: “I’d like to congratulate Alfie on his win and fantastic design. He showed great artistic talent, especially considering he is just ten years-old! We were very pleased with how many children took part and will be running the competition again next year. We had some very worthy finalists but Alfie’s design stood out for us.”
